Meta-Review: Alan Wake

Being the busy man that I am, I don't always have time to personally review every game that I play. Thankfully, plenty of other sites do, which means that I can post their scores/quotes to at least give my readers an accurate representation of a game's quality. I recently played Alan Wake, and after becoming stuck in a work-induced coma, I decided to create a meta-review for it...

  • The Escapist - "5/5 stars"
"Unless you're allergic to excellent storytelling or have an unnatural fear of pine trees, play this immediately."
  • Destructoid- "9.0/10 - Superb"
"It's a must-have Xbox 360 title that provides a freshness and dynamism that horror games have been achingly lacking for the past several years. And it's done all of this without an awkward, unwarranted, ill-fitting sex scene!"
  • IGN- "9.0/10"
"It's not the revolutionary product some may have hoped for, but it's still great entertainment. Remedy has built a world that, despite being a fantastical realm of twisting shadows and realities, is solidly anchored in authenticity."
  • Gamespot- "8.5/10"
"Fresh storytelling fleshes out the supernatural events in interesting ways"
  • Giant Bomb- "4/5 Stars"
"Alan Wake is on the whole a propulsive, thrilling, and downright spooky action game from start to finish, quite unlike anything else on the market in visual style and storytelling format."
  • Eurogamer- "7/10"
"Alan Wake is an accessible, undemanding game with a neat combat mechanic and decent visuals. It's just not a very original game, it's certainly not an exceptional one, and it's a shame it wasn't ready a few years ago."

  • Metacritic Average- "84/100"
  • Gamerankings Average- "85.91%"
